It will also be her first voice role since the 2D animated DreamWorks Animation film, The Prince of Egypt, which was released in 1998.The film will focus on the Minions, which are yellow henchmen, who have existed since the beginning of time, servicing history's most ambitious villains. Destroying all bad guys through their ineptitude, the story picks up in the 1960s, where three of the Minions set out to find a new evil master. Arriving at a villain convention, there they compete for the right to be henchmen for Scarlet Overkill, a stylish and ambitious villain, determined to dominate the world.

Tim Johnson is the director, and Chris Jenkins and Suzanne Buirgy are the producers of the film, adapted by Tom J. Astle and Matt Ember. Distributed by 20th Century Fox, the film is currently scheduled to be released on November 26, 2014. Jim Parsons and Rihanna are set to star in the lead roles of film, where "the galaxy's most annoyingly optimistic alien finds himself on the run from his own alien race", and is "forced to team up with a fiercely stubborn teenage girl.
